5th Grade Committee

Congratulations to all of our 5th graders on Moving Up - YOU DID IT!!

This class truly made history. They began their McKinley journey apart, but over the years grew together into such a special group of students. Through friendship, resilience, hard work, and unforgettable memories, they have accomplished so much together.

The 5th Grade Committee would like to wish all of our students the very best of luck as they move on to middle school. We are so proud of each and every one of you!

YES CLUB

YES Club Market Day was an incredible success!

After weeks of planning, creating, branding, pricing, and preparing, our young entrepreneurs finally brought their businesses to life at the YES Club Market Day — and they did an AMAZING job!

From handmade items and 3D creations to snacks, shirts, plants, jewelry, and more, each student worked so hard to build their business and showcase their creativity. It was wonderful seeing the students interact with customers, practice teamwork, handle sales, and truly take pride in everything they created.

We are so proud of all of the students for their hard work, growth, creativity, and dedication throughout the program. A huge thank you to all of the families, staff members, and volunteers who supported the students and helped make Market Day such a memorable event!

👟McKinley Shoe Drive Fundraiser! 🐉

Shoe Drive Update – We’re Not Done Yet!

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our school shoe drive so far! The support from our McKinley community has been incredible, and every pair donated brings us closer to our goal. We are more than half way there!

We’re still accepting shoe donations in the school vestibule through the last day of school. You can also take advantage of our convenient Tuesday SHOESDAY drop-off option at the Cedar Glen Road car line before and after school every Tuesday for the remainder of the school year.

As you clean closets, organize garages, and sort through outgrown shoes this summer, please keep us in mind! We will continue collecting when school resumes in the fall, so feel free to set aside any gently used or new shoes and help spread the word to family, friends, and neighbors.

McKinley Drama Club

A huge thank you to the McKinley community for coming out to support the student actors of Willy Wonka Jr.!

A very special thank you to all the show day volunteers - we could not have run the shows without you. Thank you for stepping up and volunteering your time.

The Drama Committee is made up of seven working moms who just wanted to see the tradition of a school musical continue at McKinley. Six of us have zero theater experience - but we have a lot of patience, a sense of humor, determination and a love for showing kids the power of theater. Does this sound like you? Ways to Get Involved in 2026-27

Volunteer! We have lots of events planned, but we need your help. Please see this list of committees on the PTO website and let us know where you may want to help next year. There are many current committee leaders and members who are moving up to the middle school, so there are many roles to fill. Please let us know if you are interested.

We are noticing that the status of many volunteers is about to expire. Please consider renewing your status over the summer to ensure you are ready for all of the next year's events.

Committee Information

Volunteer! The PTO offers so many fun events, activities, and opportunities for students throughout the year — but we need your help to make them happen! Many current committee leaders and members will be moving up to middle school next year, so there are many roles to fill.

Whether you have a lot of time or just a little, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference at your child’s school. Visit the committee page HERE to learn more about each committee and find the best fit for you and your interests.

We are already beginning to plan next year’s events and fundraising efforts, and we would love your ideas and support. Garden Updates

Thank you to everyone who stopped by the garden during the Spring Fair, and especially to those who joined our volunteer list! The garden continues to be open for recess visits each Wednesday for the remainder of the school year. If you are interested in helping make these visits possible, please use the links below to sign up for one of the dates.

Please note you must be an approved school district volunteer for recess visits. If you need to complete the volunteer clearance application, more information can be found here: https://www.abingtonsd.org/page/volunteers

We also wanted to remind everyone about our upcoming fundraiser at Rita's in Rockledge next Monday, June 8th from 4-7pm! Please feel free to share the attached flyer with family & friends! 15% of all sales from 4-7pm will be donated to the garden.

If you are interested in volunteering in the garden but are unable to help during these times, please submit your contact info on the PTO volunteer interest page or contact Alex at abeynon123@gmail.com.

ONGOING FUNDRAISING FOR NEW TABLES AND BENCHES: The existing wooden tables and benches in the garden need to be replaced. We have raised over 70% of our fundraising goal of $4,000, the cost to purchase 3 new 8' recycled plastic tables.

LOST AND FOUND

Join McKinley's Virtual Lost & Found Google photo album. This album is updated weekly with pictures of every item in the Lost & Found. Comment on the photo to claim your student's item and it will be returned to them.

Please remember to label all hoodies, jackets, water bottles, and lunchboxes! Any labeled items are quickly returned to students. Unclaimed items will be donated at the end of the month. Thank you!
