Proposed Budget Increases – PTO Vote
The PTO is proposing a budget increase to support three key areas. Here’s a quick breakdown of each item and the reasoning behind the request:
1. Gym, Art, Music, Library and Explorations increase
(Current: $250/year per teacher → Proposed: $750/year per teacher)
Special area teachers (Library, Art, Music, PE, Explorations) currently receive less than grade-level teams.
Increasing their budgets aligns them with the $750 given to each grade-level team.
This will give them more flexibility to purchase materials for all students.
2. H.E.A.R.T Program Funding
Proposed increase: $3,500
Supports positive behavior incentives through:
Monthly Incentives – Activities like freeze dance parties or hot chocolate days.
Estimated cost: $400/year
H.E.A.R.T Cart Prizes –
K–1st (2x/month, includes Autistic Support)
2nd–5th (1x/month)
Two separate carts with age-appropriate prizes
Estimated cost: $2,000/year
Monthly Raffles – 6 winners/month
Estimated cost: $600/year
Additional needs – New signage for the recent value shift from "Tolerance" to "Teamwork"
Note: Budget is estimated to avoid additional requests later.
3. Teacher Stipend Increase
(Current: $100/year → Proposed: $150/year)
